The Boxing Day Sales

Posted on December 24, 2015 at 9:13 am

Forget Black Friday and New year’s Day, the Boxing Day Sales can include some of the best bargains. On Boxing Day, many shops are looking to shift old stock so they can prepare for the new season in January, and this means they drop prices drastically the day after Christmas.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not one for running around the shops the day after Christmas, but if there’s something you have your eye on and it’s likely to be in the sale, your local shopping centre is probably worth a visit. In fashion, many coats, jackets and hoodies hit the sale rails, and that’s because there are only a few months left of chilly weather (we hope). Technology, too, will move on again next year, and there will be some fantastic bargains on laptops, mobile phones and cameras.

A word of caution

There is one thing we recommend if you are planning on shopping on Boxing Day. Leave early! Many people will be taking their unwanted items back to shops that they picked up for Christmas, and the queues can be insane!

Typical gaming injuries and how to avoid them

Posted on December 22, 2015 at 10:35 pm

Okay so this title may sound a bit strange but we’re serious. Most hardcore gamers will know you can pick up injuries, and that’s why gaming should always be  undertaken in moderation.

The most common gaming injury is Carpal Tunnel. If you’re ‘button bashing’ too frequently then you can easily aggravate the major nerve that runs over the carpal bones in the wrist.

Eyestrain – If you’re on the computer or videogame console almost all of the time, you can easily overwork your eyes. You won’t send yourself blind, but you can damage your site, so consider buying some computer glasses.

Posture – This is probably the most well known injury. Gaming can have us laying and sitting in awkward positions, and frankly we’re too busy concentrating on the game to care about sitting up straight. Big mistake.
